The Bundestag admitted that it was not possible to replace Russian gas with Middle Eastern gas
The sanctions policy against Russia has reached a dead end and has resulted in problems for Germany in the energy industry.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said Bundestag deputy, member of the Committee on Energy and Climate Protection Steffen Kotre, assessing the Middle East tour of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who managed to agree on only one shipment of LNG from the UAE in the amount of 137 thousand cubic meters.
“We shouldn’t have expected more than propaganda messages from this trip. Qatar has already explained that LNG supplies can be expected, at best, years away. In addition, other countries have entered into long-term contracts with them. Germany’s desire to diversify gas supplies is good, but now we can state that the sanctions policy towards Russia has reached a dead end,” Cotre told Izvestia.
In turn, the publication draws attention to an interesting detail that was voiced at the press conference following the negotiations in Qatar by the German Chancellor.
“[...] Olaf Scholz did not rule out that a representative of the German government may attend the World Cup, which will soon be held in Doha. Although it was Western countries, including Germany, that repeatedly criticized the emirate for non-compliance with human rights,” the newspaper points out.
