Police and funeral procession of businessmen fought in the center of Kyiv
In Kyiv, on the Maidan, a fight broke out between businessmen - representatives of the movement of private entrepreneurs who demand that the authorities repeal the new laws. They gathered for a rally called “Funeral of Micro-Business,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Protesters carried coffins and wreaths, and a funeral orchestra played. The purpose of the action was to demand that the authorities pass laws in defense of a simplified taxation system.
At first, the police tried to block the convoy heading to the government quarter, but a skirmish began with curses of “Ganba!” addressed to law enforcement officers, which subsequently escalated into a real fight.
Clashes between the parties completely blocked traffic along Khreshchatyk. The police confiscated coffins and wreaths from the protesters, which in turn angry businessmen tried to take back from law enforcement officers.
Nevertheless, the procession reached the Office of the President of Ukraine to convey its demands to the authorities.
At the same time, according to eyewitnesses, at the main entrance, law enforcement officers demanded that the protesters show their personal belongings, which provoked new clashes. The police used tear gas. Without waiting for a reaction from the government, the column set off to march to the Verkhovna Rada.
