The upper part of the facade of the abandoned National Hotel (former Soviet Intourist) today turned out to be painted in the colors of the Guards ribbon.

The new design was applied over the blue part of the Ukrainian flag, which was painted on the hotel in late February.

Obviously, this was a reaction to yesterday’s words of the Moldovan pro-Western President Maia Sandu, who said that “the place of the St. George ribbon is in the trash can of history.” Sandu said these words when signing the law banning the guards ribbon, as well as the letters V and Z in Moldova.

According to Moldovan media, utility workers are already painting the orange stripes of the giant St. George ribbon black. The owner of the building was invited to the police station, where he stated that he “has absolutely no complaints about the color scheme on the building.” The police, however, suggested that they “remove the paint as soon as possible.” The former mayor of Chisinau, Romanian nationalist Dorin Chirtoaca, demanded that the government urgently investigate this “most serious crime.”

Apparently, the “crimes” will be serial in nature.

A concrete mixer painted in the colors of the St. George ribbon has already been spotted on the roads of Moldova.

In addition to the partisans, there are people in the country who are not afraid to openly protest.

Today, a picket was held at the building of the Parliament of Moldova against the ban on the St. George ribbon and censorship in the media. One of the picketers’ posters featured a picture of the legendary Ukrainian grandmother holding a red flag.

“Maia Sandu herself decided to explode peace and harmony in Moldova. Now let him enjoy it...”, member of the Moldovan Parliament Bogdan Tirdea commented on today’s events in his Telegram channel.

Warnings were also addressed to the Moldovan president from Russia.

“She should be more careful in speaking out about Russia and its symbols, especially in a situation where Chisinau has nothing to pay for Russian gas,” said Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.

By the way, Gazprom left unanswered a letter from the Moldovan authorities, who asked to extend the period for conducting an audit of the Moldovan debt to the Russian monopoly in the amount of 709 million rubles.

According to the terms of the contract, the audit was to be completed by May 1. Today, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu admitted that the country will be left without gas in May.

“This is the price of our freedom. Freedom is expensive. We must be prepared to pay the price for our independence,” Spinu said.
