In Chernigov, a city council deputy was detained for blackmail
A deputy of the Chernigov City Council, who heads the standing commission on architecture, construction and regulation of land relations, and the director of the Chernigovbudinvest utility company were caught extorting a bribe of 50 thousand dollars, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The deputy was detained in Kyiv, the director of the enterprise was detained in Chernigov, the press service of the police department of the Economic Protection Department reported.
According to investigators, money was demanded from a construction company for allocating a plot of land for an apartment building. If they refused, they threatened to cause problems for the developer with law enforcement agencies.
The suspects were detained while receiving the first part of the bribe in the amount of 25 thousand dollars.
They are charged with Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code – obtaining unlawful benefits.
The names of the detainees are not indicated, but on the City Council website it is indicated that the permanent commission on architecture, construction and regulation of land relations is headed by Ivan Bakshun, and on the Chernigovbudinvest website the director is listed as Valery Gorbatov.
Let us remind you that on May 14, under similar circumstances, a deputy of the Cherkasy regional council was detained. He demanded a bribe from the director of a construction company for assistance in resolving the issue of making changes to the detailed plan of the territory of a plot of 5 hectares in one of the villages of the Cherkasy region, in order to subsequently lease it out.
