This was announced by the head of the Chernigov city police department, Vladimir Reberg, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the press service of the regional police.
“The police found the monuments, they are intact. In the case of the bust of Pushkin, criminal proceedings have been opened under the article “theft”. There are two articles on Kotsyubinsky’s bust – “theft” and “violation of a grave.” The investigation into the theft of monuments is under the control of the leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region,” said the police chief.
As noted by the head of the National Police in the Chernigov region, Eduard Alekhin, to ensure that similar situations do not happen again in Chernigov, the city authorities must carry out comprehensive work and create a high-quality system for the protection of cultural monuments - proper lighting, CCTV cameras, municipal guard duty, equipment with technical protection equipment. Only after this will the police hand over the monuments to the city.
Investigative efforts to identify those involved in the crimes continue.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, on the night of December 18, a bust of the Ukrainian writer Mikhail Kotsyubinsky was stolen on the Boldin Hills in Chernigov, and on the morning of December 31, it became known that a bust of the Russian classic Alexander Pushkin had disappeared from Val.
