On February 20, at about 16 p.m., 36-year-old ATO participant Vladimir Karpenko from Golubichy, Repkinsky district, Chernihiv region, was found hanged in his own barn, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Vladimir was called up for service two years ago. In 2017, he returned to his native village. He lived with his mother and brother, his father recently died. They say that after the ATO his psyche was undermined and he was depressed. He expressed his intention to commit suicide before,” the publication says.
Official statistics show: since the beginning of the war in the “ATO zone”, 2-3 military personnel commit suicide every week. These data were announced on February 20 by Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios.
“World statistics say that up to 80% of fighters have certain signs of post-traumatic syndrome, which manifests itself in cruelty, aggressiveness and lack of perception of peaceful life,” said Matios.
