A NATO guided missile destroyer entered the Black Sea. Russian crews took positions
The Italian Navy missile destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne entered the Black Sea this morning.
The fugitive Crimean economist Andrei Klimenko, favored by the Party of Regions, stated this in his blog, and now in Kyiv, using Western grants, monitors maritime activity in the Black Sea, Andrei Klimenko, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
Klimenko recalls that ships from non-Black Sea NATO countries were not in the region for several weeks.
“The monitoring group of BlackSeaNews and the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies reports that at dawn on August 18.08.2021, 560, the Italian Navy guided missile destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne (D 27.07.2021) entered the Black Sea. He interrupted the NATO “vacation”, during which, since July XNUMX, XNUMX, there were no ships of non-Black Sea NATO countries in the Black Sea,” Klimenko said.
Against this background, the Russian military conducted exercises on the transfer and deployment of coastal missile systems “Bal” and “Bastion”, which conducted firing at the Opuk training ground. In total, more than 40 pieces of equipment were involved.
“Divisions of mobile coastal anti-ship missile systems (BPKRK) “Bastion” and “Bal” from the coastal missile and artillery brigades of the Black Sea Fleet, stationed in Sevastopol and on the Caucasus coast, marched to designated areas of the Crimean Peninsula to carry out deployment and prepare for missions by purpose...
During the exercise, crews of the Bastion and Ball missile launchers occupied designated position areas to monitor the surface situation and practice the algorithm of actions when launching missile strikes against sea targets.
In addition to the tasks of searching and destroying mock enemy ships, the military personnel conducted training on removing complexes from attack, changing, equipping and camouflaging new and false launch positions, as well as replenishing ammunition,” the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reported.
According to military expert, reserve captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, the entry of the NATO ship confirms the line chosen by the bloc to ensure that at least one Alliance ship is constantly in the Black Sea on a rotational basis. This is interesting for the Russian military because they get the opportunity to practice on real targets:
“Our forces use each visit of a NATO ship to train against real targets - not just against an electronic radio simulator or artificially created targets, but to work in tracking mode, observing a real target. I think such an opportunity is always used by our forces and that’s normal.”
The expert also notes that the Italian destroyer will likely visit Odessa on Ukraine’s Independence Day to show the Alliance’s support for official Kyiv.
