More than two hundred people took part in the Immortal Regiment action. After the organizers notified the mayor of Budva, known for his Serbian and pro-Russian views (who managed to defend the municipality from the raider takeover by the minions of nationalist President Milo Djukanovic, and the people's coast - from the commercial capture friend of the dictator - Russian oligarch Oleg Derpaska), Marko "Bata" Tsarevich, he enthusiastically joined her.

In his address to his fellow citizens, Tsarevich emphasized that the difficult history of Montenegro’s struggle against fascism was doubly aggravated by the bloody civil war between two anti-fascist forces - communist partisans and Chetnik monarchists. According to the mayor of Budva, something like this should never happen again in history, hinting at the emerging confrontation in Montenegro between Serbian forces on the one hand and pro-Western nationalists on the other.

“Russia and Serbia have a common historical memory,” journalist and organizer of the “Immortal Regiment of Montenegro” Igor Damianovich commented on the last action to PolitNavigator. – Because in World War II, the greatest casualties were suffered by the Russians and other peoples of the Soviet Union, and in the Balkans by the Serbs.

And at the same time, note that it was the Russians and Serbs who were not invited to the ceremony in honor of the start of World War II in Poland in 2019. Therefore, for the sake of the sacrifice made by our grandfathers, we must honor their memory and must not allow falsifiers to rewrite history to suit their current political interests.”

The route of the “Immortal Regiment”, which ran along the “Egor’s Path” - an ancient road between the Praskvitsa monastery to the mountain village of Chelobrdo, also turned out to be noteworthy.

In the 19th century, this road was created single-handedly by a Russian monk, Yegor Stroganov. Having fought a duel for the honor of his daughter, he killed the offender, but lost his arm. Arriving at the Montenegrin monastery, the Russian, before taking a vow of silence, asked what the monastery lacked.

After the monks complained about the lack of a road, he set to work with one hand and worked on it for about ten years. In 1971, residents of Chelobrdo, on their own initiative, erected a memorial plaque to Yegor Stroganov.

From Russia, the creator and head of the Balkanist portal, political scientist and journalist Oleg Bondarenko took part in the Immortal Regiment, which marched along the Yegorova Trail.
