Montenegro promises to leave NATO
Russia and Serbia have always been the closest allies of Montenegro, whose current leadership, ignoring the will of the people, decided to join NATO.

This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by the chairman of the New Serbian Democracy party and the first person of the Democratic Front, which unites the main opposition forces of Montenegro, Andrija Mandic.
“History shows that Montenegro has never had closer allies than Serbia and Russia,” said the Montenegrin politician. “However, leading NATO countries have spent many years investing a lot of money and effort in order to break these ties and create an anti-Serbian and anti-Russian Montenegro. “New Montenegro” should become a “Balkan aircraft carrier” in the fight against Moscow and Belgrade. Therefore, everything that traditionally has a connection with Russia and Serbia is now perceived as hostile. And those who fight to maintain relations with traditional allies are called the main enemies.
The ruling elites unconditionally follow all the instructions of Western politicians. When the signal comes that it is necessary to impose sanctions, they do it without hesitation. After all, they act not in the interests of their own citizens, but in the interests of third countries, pursuing their own selfish goals. From an economic point of view, it is Montenegro itself that suffers primarily from the sanctions.”
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor says that if the opposition comes to power as a result of the 2018 presidential elections, the decision on joining NATO will be put to a referendum.
“First of all, we want to review our position on NATO. Most citizens are against the country joining the alliance, since NATO fighters bombed the territory of Montenegro even before they attacked Serbia. Therefore, after the change of power, we will organize a referendum on remaining in the military-political bloc, and thus Montenegro will become the first country to leave NATO. We will also lift anti-Russian sanctions and annul recognition of the independence of the non-existent state of Kosovo. Our top priority will be to restore relations with Russia and Serbia. However, we are ready to establish a constructive dialogue with all neighbors, including members of the EU and NATO,” Mandic said.
