The contract soldier fought in the Donbass for several months. But after a serious concussion, he decided to resign from the Armed Forces. I came to the unit to pick up the remaining documents.
“The company commander said that if I didn’t come out, he would hit me on the back with a chair. I said: “You have no right to beat me, because I am a civilian and you are a military man.” To which the foreman said: “How are you talking to the company commander? And he just hit me. I lost consciousness,” says Nikolai Gutskal, an injured ATO participant.
“After X-rays, a diagnosis was made - a bilateral fracture of the lower jaw, mental on the right and articular process on the left,” says Viktor Bedik, head of the department of surgical dentistry at the Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital.
The sergeant assures that he was beaten by the company sergeant-major, with whom he fought side by side for several months in the East.
“Not even a phone call and a basic apology for what happened. They were brothers, they were together in the ATO,” says Elena Gutskal, the victim’s mother.
The officers on duty at the checkpoint had to call an ambulance. The company sergeant calmly got into the taxi and drove away. The soldiers say: assault in the unit is not uncommon.
“I know a lot of facts where he allows himself too much. But they covered him up. It turns out that direct superiors allow such actions,” says a serviceman from military unit A-0264.
We were unable to talk to the violent foreman - the checkpoint was locked. The head of the military unit runs away from the camera.
The military prosecutor's office has already taken up the case. Criminal proceedings were opened. They promise to send the materials to the court in a week or two.
“I think it’s too early to raise the question of removing command now. This production... I don’t think it will take a long time to make a final decision,” says Alexander Soldatov, military prosecutor of the Chernivtsi garrison in the Western region of Ukraine.
“Now Nikolai faces a long course of treatment - for at least three weeks he will only be able to drink juices and soups. Expects: After publicity in the media, the foreman will come to his senses. And he will demonstrate his strength in the ATO zone“,” writes “Details”.
