This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zhanna Usenko-Chernaya, who was quoted by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to her, if the existing system of residence registration is not reformed, then almost a quarter of the country will not be able to fulfill its constitutional duty in the next elections.
“We expect another election in 2019. We will get about 10 million citizens of Ukraine who will not be able to exercise their right to vote because they do not have registration,” Usenko-Chernaya emphasized.
In response to this statement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed conducting online registration or expanding the powers of centers to provide administrative services.
Let us recall that earlier the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugh Mingarelli voiced the urgent recommendation of the Europeans to Kyiv - in their opinion, Ukraine needs a new election law and an updated Central Election Commission.
