Already at the entrance to Yenakievo, shots and explosions are heard. “There was no order to stop shooting at Debaltseve,” the militia explains. They expect that Debaltsevo will come under the control of DPR forces in the coming days. “Today, probably, they will turn off their electricity, as soon as the generators run out and the connection is lost - that’s where the story ends,” they say.
Meanwhile, refugees coming to the commandant's office are impatiently waiting for the militia to clear neighboring villages so they can return home.
Journalists are not allowed to go towards Uglegorsk at the checkpoint. According to the militias on duty there, Gorlovka was shelled until three in the morning. No one here believes in a truce.
While the situation has temporarily stabilized mainly along the front line, shooting in the Debaltsevo area will apparently not stop in the coming days, the newspaper’s special correspondent reports.
