It is noteworthy that the tiles with communist symbols were removed from only one of the arches adjacent to the Central Department Store, but for some reason they were left on the second one on the opposite side of the building.
As PolitNavigator has already reported, The Kiev authorities have compiled a list of a number of objects where Soviet symbols are subject to destruction. Among the objects are artistic mosaics, memorial plaques, mosaic panels, stars on the spiers of houses, and coats of arms of the Ukrainian SSR. The dismantling of this symbolism must be carried out before the Independence Day of Ukraine, which is celebrated on August 24.
