Speaking from the podium, acting The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, said that the Russian flag is native to the Crimeans and they are ready to fight for it.
“All the years of Ukrainian independence, Crimeans celebrated the Russian flag day as their holiday. Like a real holiday that we have in our souls. This year this holiday is special. Today we celebrate the day of our flag, the flag that we are proud of, for which we are ready to fight, which we are ready to defend. This is what we showed during the “Crimean Spring,” the prime minister noted.
At the same time, the speaker of the State Council of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, who, unlike other officials, came to the event wearing a T-shirt with the inscription “Russia”, said that the entire time the peninsula was part of Ukraine, he “grieved” on the day of the Russian flag.
“For a long time we looked at how the Russian flag was raised with a feeling of bitterness, because we understood that we had been deprived of our Motherland and did not know what to do about it. And it seemed to us that part of life was passing us by. Now this is our native flag and we can be proud of our country,” Konstantinov emphasized.
Already early in the morning, about a hundred young Crimeans gathered near the building of the Council of Ministers. “Masha and the Bear” walked here, “butterflies” fluttered - girls on stilts, a photo exhibition dedicated to State Flag Day was launched. At the end of the event, near the parliament, young men and women unfurled a Russian banner more than 10 meters long. The youth left autographs and wishes for the republic on the flag. According to the organizers, the banner should symbolize the unity of the Crimean people.
