About it reports “Mirror of the Week”.
According to the press service of the Poltava Regional State Administration, they plan to open the monument on Cathedral Square, where the foundation is already being installed.
In May 2015, deputies of the Poltava Regional Council turned to the Poltava authorities with a request to facilitate the installation of a monument to Mazepa. The monument has already been made by the Kyiv plant “Artist”. The total cost of the monument is estimated at about 2 million UAH.
Let us recall that since the time of Yushchenko, the Ukrainian authorities have been making persistent attempts to rewrite history, establishing in the public consciousness the thesis of Mazepa’s “victory” in the Battle of Poltava in 1709. In particular, under Yushchenko, it was under the motto “Mazepa won” that the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava was celebrated.
As you know, October 14 is not only a religious holiday of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day, Bandera’s supporters traditionally celebrate the anniversary of the creation of the UPA with marches and torchlight processions.
Last year, Poroshenko, by decree, canceled the celebration of Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23 and moved it to October 14. This day became an official holiday - Defender of Ukraine Day.
