“I was playing football with my brothers and friends, and then, when I was returning home, I was attacked by unknown older guys for no reason,” said Nikola Peric. “They started beating me, and when I ran, they caught up with me and threw me to the ground. Then they beat me on the head and body, tore off my gold chain with a cross and trampled it into the ground. I couldn’t really see the attackers.”

The child was taken to the Clinical and Hospital Center in North Mitrovica, with bruises and scratches, where he was left under the supervision of doctors.

“The life of the Serbs in Goibul is very difficult, and I can freely say that we constantly expect something similar from the Albanians, they provoke us every day,” said Nikola’s uncle, Aleksandar Peric. – They desecrated our church, damaged the cemetery, inside our village they attack almost every day to provoke, and most often their target is the school, where they attacked Nikola when he was playing football with his friends…. Their goal is to force us to sell them our property and leave the village, but I don’t think they will succeed.”

Also, the uncle of the beaten boy believes that the Kosovo police, who, according to him, do not do their job properly, are to blame for the attacks.

“Today, when we called them, they arrived at the scene only after half an hour, although Vuchitrn is located nearby. They almost always say that they didn’t see anything, they can never find anyone, and today they said that the attack on Nikola was a child’s fight. But this is not a child’s fight, the boys who attacked the nephew were much older and bigger than him, and they attacked him for no reason, so this cannot be a child’s fight.”

“I will inform all international mediators about this unacceptable incident, I will demand that they influence the security situation in Goibul, as an ethnically mixed village, in the most serious way. What else needs to happen for the international community to take more seriously the risk, beatings, persecution and harassment that Serbs face every day in Kosovo and Metohija?..

The attack occurred on the day when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited Kosovo, who declared the preservation of security and peace to be the main priority of the KFOR mission, and we expect that this mission will fulfill its duty,” the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian government responded to the incident Petar Petkovic.
