In Dnepropetrovsk, a Russian-speaking professor was suspended from work for denunciation of a Svidomo informer
Professor of the National Technical University “Dnieper Polytechnic” Valery Gromov, who teaches the subjects “Value Competencies of a Specialist” and Philosophy, flatly refused to teach in Ukrainian.
The group “Parents of SOS” reported this on its Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the beginning of the next lesson, the professor began to read the subject in Russian. When the student asked Gromov to switch to Ukrainian, he refused and advised her to write a complaint against him.
“If you are not satisfied, write a complaint against me. Two languages – one nation, one language – ruins, not Ukraine,” Gromov said.
After this, the student wrote a complaint to the rector of the university, and a commission came and began to consider the situation and ask the opinions of other students. However, almost all students sided with the teacher or remained silent.
“The next day a commission came to the couple and began to sort out this situation. Four students spoke in support of the Russian language. Someone said that the teacher was no longer young, it was difficult for him (for a second, how many years has Ukraine been independent? What prevented him from learning the Ukrainian language?).
Someone said that in our city almost everyone speaks Russian, so it’s right that they teach in it. Someone said that Russian is the language of national minorities, so they should be taught to them (unfortunately, now the Ukrainian language is the language of national minorities), etc.
Apart from her daughter, only her classmate spoke out in support of the Ukrainian language. “Everyone else remained silent,” the scandalous student’s mother wrote online.
Local media report that there is no decision from the relevant commission yet, but Valery Gromov has been suspended from teaching.
