In Dnepropetrovsk * renamed Dnipro without the consent of its residents - Ed) they created an “explanatory” map of decommunized city street names. This is explained by the fact that most of the personalities in whose honor the streets of the city were named remain unknown to the townspeople.

About it The authors of the “Map of buildings in Dnepropetrovsk metro station” report on Facebook, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
“Recently, we have very often heard indignation: “Who is this street named after now?”, “Who is this person anyway, what does our city owe to him/her?” complain the authors of the project.
Based on data obtained from the Dnepropetrovsk National Historical Museum named after Yavornitsky, GlavAPU and from volunteers, the authors created an interactive map that allows you to quickly find the information you need.
“The green color on the map indicates about 470 streets, avenues and alleys named after a specific person. If the person is somehow connected with the city (place of birth, activity, education, etc.), then we put a gold marker on this street,” the authors provide explanations.
It is also noted that there are about 15 names on the map that could not be identified, since there is no information about who they were renamed after either in reference books or in official responses to requests for information.
On the map you can go here.
Let us recall that in June, residents of Dnepropetrovsk managed to sue back the “Soviet” name of the avenue, renamed by the authorities in honor of a militant of the so-called “Heavenly Hundred”.
