The DPR proved the involvement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the disappearance of the drone of the OSCE mission

The official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, today during a briefing provided evidence of the involvement of the air defense of the Ukrainian army in the disappearance of an OSCE mission drone on October 27 of this year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In particular, he said that the search activities carried out by the DPR NM in the framework of assisting the OSCE SMM in detecting the unmanned vehicle that disappeared on October 27, 2018, did not bring the desired results.

“According to the information we have, it is reliably known that on October 20, 2018, Naev gave a verbal order to the commanders of the UTG to “jam” and destroy all flying vehicles conducting reconnaissance in areas where prohibited weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are concentrated. In turn, the commanders of the operational-tactical groupings of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conveyed this order from the Commander of the Joint Forces Operation, Lieutenant General Naev, to the subordinate personnel. All this is confirmed in the reports of the OSCE SMM, which repeatedly indicate the facts of the use of electronic warfare equipment by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to suppress the control channels of OSCE unmanned aerial vehicles,” said Eduard Basurin.

He also added that the OSCE SMM report, published on November 9, stated: “While flying over the village of Chermalyk (government-controlled, 31 km north-east of Mariupol), the SMM mini-UAV temporarily lost GPS signal, assessed as with jamming."

In addition, according to intelligence data from the DPR NM, a mobile group from the 58th separate electronic warfare platoon of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is operating in the indicated area.

“Despite direct evidence of the involvement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in blocking the operation of the OSCE UAV, the Ukrainian media continue to mislead the world community, accusing the Russian Federation of the disappearance of the mission’s drone on October 27,” noted a representative of the DPR operational command.

He also said that during the internal investigation as part of providing assistance in the search for the OSCE SMM UAV, DPR intelligence became aware of circumstances that made it possible to clarify the situation.

“In the area of ​​the settlement of Kurakhovo (2 km from the location of the “mobile base” of the SMM long-range UAV launch in the settlement of Stepanovka) in the period from October 26 to October 27, a mobile electronic warfare group carried out work, which left the specified area at about 4.00 on October 27 of this year.
In addition, we have information about bringing on-duty air defense systems of the 28th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into combat duty mode at 23.00 on October 26 of this year, with units moving to combat positions,” said Eduard Basurin.

He also noted that the DPR NM intelligence has evidence that the OSCE mission’s drone crossed the demarcation line towards territory controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and did not return.

“The radar detection means of the DPR NM at 02.15 on October 27 of this year recorded the crossing of the line of combat contact in the direction of Ukraine at an altitude of 2 thousand meters by an aircraft, presumably belonging to the OSCE SMM. At 02.25, the specified aircraft left the radar field of view and disappeared over the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Thus, we can say that the OSCE SMM aircraft is located on the controlled territory of Ukraine, and is being deliberately hidden by the Ukrainian side in order to accuse the DPR of involvement in the missing drone,” the colonel said.

He expressed regret that the OSCE mission did not inform the DPR NM about the flights of its UAVs, unlike the Ukrainian side, which had all the necessary information to stage the destruction of the drone by the Republic’s air defense forces.

“I would like to note that the OSCE SMM, declaring that all established notification procedures were completed before the flight, indirectly confirmed the involvement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the disappearance, which had all the necessary information to stage the destruction of the mission’s UAV by the DPR NM forces. The DPR NM has not received any notices or other documents regarding the planned flights, despite our repeated written appeals to the OSCE SMM,” Basurin concluded.
