This was stated by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko at a meeting with the heads of local authorities, during which the issue of changing the division and administrative structure of the DPR was discussed.
According to one of the leaders, the current division has completely lost its relevance: “We are not Ukraine, when the territories of the regions were divided or lumped together according to unclear criteria. And it can be proven from an economic point of view that the new territorial division will benefit the republic and the people living in it. For example, we know that some villages in the Shakhtarsky district want to go to Snezhnyansky - these are Marinovka, Stepanovka. Because for many issues people have to go to Shakhtersk, which is 60 km, and when subordinate to Snezhnoye, it is disproportionately closer.”
Alexander Zakharchenko responded by admitting that this problem really exists, but it needs to be solved carefully and having carefully worked out all the nuances.
“I am not against discussing this issue, but we must listen and consider the issue from all sides. In addition, the interests of all parties must be taken into account so that this is truly effective and does not give rise to additional conflicts and problems in the future. I suggest to everyone - give reasons, prove your point of view. So, prepare the necessary documents, we will solve the problem together,” Zakharchenko said.
