Teachers and students who were “abandoned” by Poroshenko are returning en masse to the DPR
Teachers and students are returning to Donbass, who at first believed Petro Poroshenko’s promises about organizing the educational process in areas not affected by the civil war, but then were disappointed by the real actions of the Ukrainian authorities.
The Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larisa Polyakova spoke about this at a conference in Donetsk dedicated to the progress of the humanitarian Program for the reunification of the people of Donbass.

“In 2014, before the start of the academic year, Ukraine invited students and teachers of Donetsk universities to move. As a result, those who moved were not provided with basic conditions - not just for work, but purely for everyday life. As a result, in 2016 we saw a massive return of students and teachers.
Also in XNUMX, children with disabilities were taken out. They were taken to a sanatorium, which is not intended for year-round living. And it is not at all suitable for training and education. The children were not returned to their home boarding schools. The result is mass escapes. Children are running.
What do we have? In the DPR, the learning process did not stop even during periods of intense shelling. Nowadays, new universities are being created and opened in the DPR, and the range of secondary specialized education is expanding. After the announcement of the Program for the reunification of the people of Donbass, all the hotlines of the Ministry of Education receive many calls. For now they are of an advisory nature: “Is it true? Is it possible from other areas? Do you really equate the results of the External Assessment with the final certification?” and the like.
We are preparing for the entrance campaign, we are expecting applicants - these are our own children, the children of Donbass - come to study at our native Donetsk universities and technical schools.
If we talk about children with disabilities, there are 23 special educational institutions of the DPR, including three sanatorium schools, boarding schools for patients with scoliosis, for the deaf and hard of hearing, for the blind and visually impaired - we are expecting children, please bring them.
I would like to emphasize that during the time of Ukraine they were never able to open a center for additional education for blind and visually impaired adults and children. The Donetsk People's Republic accomplished this. We now have such a center for additional education. And we also invite listeners without making restrictions,” the minister said.
