The DPR has found a way to bypass the Ukrainian blockade
Ukraine’s economic blockade of the Donbass republics was aimed at depriving industrial enterprises of the region of important markets, but in the end it served as a kind of impetus for the start of restructuring of the entire industry.

The Minister of Industry and Trade of the DPR, Alexei Granovsky, stated this in an interview with war correspondent Sergei Belous, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact is that, due to the specific nature of our territory, there were a lot of coal mines; all machine-building enterprises were specialized in the coal industry. These are explosion-proof starters, transformers, conveyors, lifting machines, gearboxes - a huge range, everything that was tailored for the coal industry. Now the situation is such that out of hundreds of mines in the Donetsk region, about 18 workers remain under the control of the Republic, and 56 are being restructured and put under liquidation. It turns out that the volume that we must supply to the mines is scanty. It does not make it possible to load all our machine-building enterprises,” the minister outlined the situation.
At the same time, he says that the DPR has found a way out of the current situation. The key to solving the problem is not the search for new markets, but the repurposing of enterprises.
“We are forced to repurpose enterprises for completely different products. Just a week ago, a tram was delivered to the Donetsk Electrotechnical Plant, we took it from our Donetsk TTU, the task was set by the head of the republic and A. Yu. Timofeev - to organize not so much repairs, but the production of trams on the territory of the Republic. Now the DETZ personnel are dismantling this tram down to the screw, in order to clearly understand what to cast, what to make, what engines to make, and to work in cooperation with our enterprises,” said Granovsky.
