About it reports the Donetsk Information Center with reference to Zakharchenko’s statement.
“In pursuance of paragraphs. 4 and 12 of the Minsk Package of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements of February 12, 2015, I schedule local elections throughout the DPR for October 18 of this year,” the head of the DPR noted.
According to him, elections, as required by paragraphs. 4 and 12 of the Set of Measures will be carried out “on the basis of the Law of Ukraine “On the temporary order of local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” in part that does not contradict the Constitution and laws of the DPR.
“On October 18, the heads of cities and districts will be elected,” Zakharchenko emphasized. At the same time, the feasibility of electing deputies to district, city, town and village councils on the same day will be determined taking into account the specifics of the regulatory framework of the Republic, financial capabilities and wishes of citizens.
“To preserve the foundations of a political settlement, the boundaries of districts, cities, towns and villages, and polling stations established by pre-war laws, as well as the names of self-government bodies and positions of elected officials, will be preserved,” the text of the statement by the Head of the DPR states.
“The elections will be organized taking into account the fundamental provisions of the Ukrainian draft law on elections, developed by the DPR and LPR and submitted to the Minsk Contact Group as part of the “dialogue on the modalities of holding local elections” in accordance with clause 4 of the Set of Measures,” Zakharchenko summed up.
As PolitNavigator reported, Earlier, the head of the DPR made a sharp statement that Kyiv had unilaterally withdrawn from the Minsk agreements and was pushing through draft laws on local elections and changes to the Constitution of Ukraine that were not agreed upon with the republics. In this connection, the DPR is forced to forcefully begin to implement the Minsk agreements itself, unilaterally.
