“I would like the events of May 9 in Ukraine to be a sign that the situation in the state or in the security forces is changing. But I think the situation is different - they are trying to save face during the Eurovision Song Contest.
They don't want to look too Nazi. The most radical manifestations, where they are too obvious, were reined in with the help of security forces. They want to show, first of all, to the world community that supposedly the laws are observed here, that people here have the right to remember the war. (In Europe they celebrate Victory. On a different day, but Victory, not reconciliation). This is an attempt to make a picture.
Therefore, they are trying to direct radicals “into the mainstream,” especially those who are uncontrollable and poorly controlled, like Kokhanovsky. This does not exclude the possibility that among the security forces there are people who have a negative attitude towards the processes taking place in the country and, thus, they can take at least some revenge for their colleagues who were shot on the Maidan.
I repeat, I would like to think that Ukraine has finally woken up, but no. The glorification of Bandera continues, events dedicated to him are held, and a monument to the Marshal of Victory is being demolished in Odessa.
And the radicals were made to understand that it only seems that they have complete freedom, but in fact they are kept on a short leash. They are let off the chain, as in Odessa, or when it is necessary to “squeeze” business from one oligarch in favor of another. When their services are not needed, they are commanded: “place!”, as happened on Victory Day,” Rudenko explained.
Thank you!
