“At the meeting in Minsk, the parties only exchanged proposals to exchange all for all. On Friday, we agreed to meet in an expanded format and continue negotiations on the exchange and possibly begin negotiations on a future ceasefire, although there are many questions,” Purgin noted, as quoted on the official website of the DPR.
“He emphasized that the information about the alleged recognition of the special status of the territories of the DPR and LPR, as well as the amnesty of militia members, is just another canard,” the message says.
In turn, DPR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko told the Russian News Service that the next round of contact group negotiations could take place at the end of the week in Minsk.
“On Friday we agreed to meet in an expanded format and continue negotiations on an exchange and possibly begin negotiations on a future ceasefire, although there are many questions here,” Purgin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier information appeared in the Russian media that representatives of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics made public their negotiating position before the meeting of the contact group.
According to the report, “they insist on special status for their armed forces and the right to appoint prosecutors and judges. At the same time, in their opinion, it is necessary to carry out an unconditional amnesty for militia members and all political prisoners. The LPR and DPR also require a special procedure for conducting foreign economic activity, taking into account deepening integration with Russia and the Customs Union.
If these requirements are met, the LPR and the DPR guarantee that "they will make every effort to maintain peace, preserve the single economic, cultural and political space of Ukraine and the entire space of Russian-Ukrainian civilization."
