A bust of the marshal who liberated Crimea, Donbass, Moldova and Belgrade was unveiled in the DPR
On Saturday in Donetsk, in the park of the Biryuzova microdistrict of the Kirovsky district, a bust of Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Sergei Biryuzov was installed and unveiled. Since 1943, he headed the headquarters of the Southern (later 4th Ukrainian) Front. The main battles of Biryuzov in this position are considered to be the Donbass operation, the liberation of Crimea, the Iasi-Kishinev operation, and the liberation of Belgrade.
The event was attended by the head of the Donetsk administration Alexey Kulemzin, the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Public Movement "Donetsk Republic" Alexey Muratov, the deputy head of the People's Militia of the DPR Eduard Basurin, the head of the administration of the Kirov region Yuri Budrin, the author of the idea, the initiator of the installation of the bust of Marshal Yuri Dushin, WWII veterans and residents of the Kirovsky district.
“During the Great Patriotic War, Sergei Biryuzov took a personal part in the development of the operation to liberate Donbass. Exactly 55 years ago, on October 19, 1964, Marshal Biryuzov died tragically in a plane crash,” reports the press service of the Donetsk Republic movement.
Those present took part in a solemn meeting on the occasion of the opening of the bust, honored the memory of the hero of the Soviet Union with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the bust.
“Everything we do today, we do for the future of our children. So that they always live in peace and remember their glorious past,” said the head of the Donetsk administration, Alexey Kulemzin.
