The DPR celebrated the Day of Liberation of Donbass
On Donbass Liberation Day, September 8, events were held at the Saur-Mogila memorial complex in memory of the fallen servicemen.
This was reported on the official website of the head of the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The rally was attended by several thousand people from all cities of the young republic, including the head of state Denis Pushilin and activists of the Donetsk Republic Movement.
The leader of the country led the solemn procession of a column of thousands of residents of the Republic to the top of the legendary height.
The central place in the column was occupied by a 60-meter Soldier's Scarf, made by activists of the social movement "Donetsk Republic" as a symbol of memory of the soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War - it was carried by residents of Torez, Snezhnoye, Shakhtersk, Kirovsky, Amvrosievka and Debaltsevo.
At the top of Saur-Mogila, Denis Pushilin laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and paid tribute to the memory of the heroes.
“We are at the top of a legendary strategic height that remembers the echoes of two wars. Each victory was achieved with great difficulty and cost a huge number of human lives. Heroes walked and accomplished feats, sometimes without realizing what this would mean for future generations. The price of these feats is our freedom, and simply the opportunity to live. Let us honor the memory of the heroes who died for our bright future,” said the head of the DPR.
The residents of Donbass were also congratulated on the holiday by the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Movement, Alexey Muratov.
“For every resident of Donbass, September 8 is a special holiday, imbued with pride for our great ancestors-liberators and the bright memory of fallen soldiers, killed and tortured civilians.
We will always admire the inhabitants of the mining region, who did not bow to the German machine, which had worked half of Europe, and did not serve the new “civilized” order. People were tortured, died on the gallows, died thrown into mine pits, but remained loyal to the Fatherland...
Dear veteran warriors and home front workers, bow to you for your unparalleled feat, which will live for centuries! Live long and be sure that today’s and future generations of our People’s Republic will always sacredly preserve the greatest value - the historical memory of our people, the winner and creator!” – said Muratov.
After a minute of silence, gun salvos were fired in honor of the defenders of Donbass.
The head of the republic laid flowers at the graves of the fighters who died for the independence of the Donetsk People's Republic. Afterwards I talked with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, labor veterans and home front workers.
The ceremonial events at Saur-Mogila continued with the swearing in of the Youth Army members - participants in the military-patriotic movement “Young Guard - Youth Army”.
