So, on Thursday, July 22, the head of the republic visited the Zuevsky Energy and Mechanical Plant.
It is noted that the foundry shop of the plant currently processes slag into pig iron.
In April and July of this year, two arc steel-smelting furnaces, which had not been in operation since 2014, were launched here.
“In essence, an enterprise that had been idle for seven years has started up, and with certain prospects,” Pushilin told reporters. – In terms of raw materials, the raw materials are located here. These are slag dumps in quite significant volumes - tens of millions of tons, accumulated on the territory of both the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. They can be recycled using virtually waste-free technology.”
“On the one hand, we receive cast iron, which is in demand in foreign markets. And those shipments that were sent outside not only Donbass, but also outside Russia, are quite acceptable in terms of characteristics. Demand allows us to say that everything processed can be sold here. It's in demand. On the other hand - slag. And it also has applications, but in the construction industry,” added the head of the DPR.
Before this, the enterprise was cut off from electricity and water, and now, almost out of the blue, production facilities are being launched and employees are being recruited again.
According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Vladimir Rushchak, who accompanied the head of the republic, contracts for tens of thousands of tons have already been signed. He also added that the first batch has been shipped, and the shipment of products that will be exported continues.
