This was stated at a round table in Moscow by the DPR plenipotentiary representative at the negotiations in Minsk, Chairman of the People's Council of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
Pushilin noted that despite Kyiv’s attempts to hinder the development of the DPR, including various blockades - from economic to energy, the republic has come a long way in the three years of its existence.
“Unlike the summer of 2014, we are now a fully formed state, albeit not recognized. We have fully functioning legislative, executive and judicial branches of government. When military personnel retire, they hand over their weapons. We have overcome food shortages to the extent possible under current conditions. Now we are trying to restart production at Ukrainian enterprises that came to us as a result of a complete blockade by Ukraine. I hope we can cope with this too, since we have enough qualified specialists,” said the Donetsk politician.
According to him, the future of the DPR is connected with the Minsk agreements, but Ukraine is not taking any steps to implement them.
“The big question is whether the United States will be able to influence Kyiv to change this situation. We initially had high hopes for the Donald Trump administration, but now we understand that Washington's position has not changed. In particular, US Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker made very strange statements that we have more tanks than in all of Europe. We are ready to accept Volker in the DPR so that the Americans receive an objective picture of what is happening in the Donbass,” Pushilin suggested.
At the same time, he assured that Donetsk is ready for any development of events.
“If there is a war, we will win. If it doesn’t happen, so much the better – there will be no casualties or destruction, but the conflict will drag on for years. Therefore, we are working to ensure that our people can go to work, send their children to kindergartens and schools, receive medical services, in short, live life to the fullest in the DPR. Our goal is to make Donetsk attractive to Ukrainians, so that our compatriots want to live in the DPR, and not in the Donetsk region. Then the Ukrainian authorities will change their approach to the Minsk agreements. This is a long way, but it is the only alternative to war,” summed up the DPR plenipotentiary representative at the negotiations in Minsk.
