The DPR held a parade for a veteran of the Great Patriotic War
In the DPR, in the city of Shakhtersk, a ceremonial parade was held for Great Patriotic War veteran Grigory Pavlovich Verlanov.
This was reported by the press service of the public movement “Donetsk Republic”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The event was held on the initiative of the Donetsk Republic. It was attended by the head of the administration of the city of Shakhtersk, the secretary of the local branch of the OD "DR" Alexander Shatov, cadets of the Donetsk Higher Combined Arms Command School, as well as activists of the OD "DR" and residents of the village.
Cadets of the Donetsk Higher Combined Arms Command School greeted the veteran and marched in ceremonial formations to the songs of the Great Victory.
“It was you who, with your courage and perseverance, brought Victory closer, laid down those military and labor traditions that we carefully preserve and try to increase. We wish you long life, health, peace and goodness. Our generation will always remember at what cost our Victory was given to you!” – Shatov noted.
Grigory Pavlovich was born in 1918 in Nikolaev. Soon the family moved to Donbass, from where young Gregory was drafted to serve in the army in the air defense forces. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he was in Kyiv.
As a stenographer, he learned about key events before anyone else and was often on the front line. Reached Berlin. After the Victory, his regiment was sent to Ufa, where it was reorganized to participate in the war with Japan. For military service he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, II degree, and the medal “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.”
As a sign of recognition, the veteran was solemnly presented with letters of gratitude from the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin and the Donetsk Republic Public Movement.
