DPR Foreign Minister Alexander Kofman spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia, according to whom the latest provocation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with an attempted offensive in the Debaltsevo region could be due to the hopeless situation of Poroshenko, who for the past year and a half has not been able to pass the law on local elections through parliament in Donbass.
“Kyiv is unable to solve this problem in any way other than force,” Kofman points out. – Nobody will allow Poroshenko to hold elections. Yulia Tymoshenko has already stated that she will block the election law until the last minute, so the reality is that Poroshenko has the only way to maintain his power - this is to continue the aggression against Donbass.”
The DPR also says that war is one of the main ways the Kyiv authorities make money.
“A lot of money is made from military budgets. The state of war makes it possible to attribute all the crimes of the Ukrainian authorities to the situation in Donbass, emphasizes the head of the DPR Foreign Ministry. – Poroshenko has no interest in ending this situation. For example, our intelligence reports about the release of 100–150 shells on our territory, but the reports after the shelling, which are then submitted to Kyiv, are increased by 2–3 times. Imagine the colossal amount of shells for heavy weapons that are written off every day. This is an excellent source of income for the Ukrainian authorities.”
