For the past year and a half, Ukrainian special services have been famous for using every opportunity to rob those people who cross the demarcation line.

This statement was made by DPR Commissioner for Human Rights Daria Morozova during a press conference.

“I would like to add about property. The Ukrainian special services are often engaged in squeezing property and real estate from people who are detained. They simply sew cases for many people, simply because they have something to take away, and then they will not be able to defend themselves,” said former militiaman Andrey Dementyev released from Ukrainian captivity, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.

The DPR Ombudsman commented on his statement:

“Yes, such a manipulation scheme really appeared. If I'm not mistaken, this happened about a year and a half ago. Pensioners, people traveling to Ukraine for social benefits or on business issues are detained by the Ukrainian special services for their own benefit. Such “beacons” have been coming to us for a long time, and we have been contacting international organizations about this, mainly the UN Human Rights Committee. In some cases, they really begin to “monitor people” and then let them go, but if they have a chance to get caught on something somewhere, as was the case with taxpayer, they leave it and do not resolve the issue until the end. However, many people who traveled to Ukraine and who have something financially simply paid off their money when they were detained. And that’s the only reason they weren’t detained.”

Daria Morozova also spoke about the pension scheme, which the Ukrainian special services are now actively using:

“Again, pensions are a fairly common topic. When, for example, a person comes to collect his pension, he is not arrested, but as soon as he leaves, knowing that he left a few hours ago to collect pension payments, he is immediately detained. Accordingly, then after a certain amount of time he may be released, but without a pension.”
