The parliaments of the LDPR today decided to schedule elections of heads of republics for November 11. In Lugansk, as expected, Leonid Pasechnik, who is in acting status, will be approved during the vote. head of the LPR after the removal of Igor Plotnitsky. The elections in Donetsk promise intrigue - there may be several strong contenders for the post of leader of the DPR.
It is interesting that today the People’s Council of the DPR appointed Speaker of Parliament Denis Pushilin as acting head of the republic.
This happened after the position of the DPR Prosecutor General’s Office was announced - the supervisory authority stated that “a representative of Alexander Zakharchenko’s team” - Dmitry Trapeznikov cannot hold the position of acting. head of the republic, since he was not the first deputy prime minister who, by law, replaces Zakharchenko after his death.
Thus, a scenario was implemented in the DPR that suited Moscow curators - previously, political scientist Alexei Chesnakov, close to the Kremlin, pointed specifically to Pushilin as the only legitimate leader of the republic.
It is obvious that Pushilin earned such trust thanks to his many years of participation in the Minsk negotiations in the status of the main representative of the DPR.
“Of course, Denis Pushilin is not the choice of DPR citizens, but of Moscow curators and local deputies. Citizens will have their say in the November elections. Although there are suspicions that Moscow’s word will be decisive. So, Pushilin received absolute power in the republic. How he will behave and how he will try to enlist popular support (given an extremely low rating) – we will see in the near future,” comments militia member Alexander Zhuchkovsky.
Who will now travel from the republic to negotiate with Ukrainians in the capital of Belarus will be determined in the near future.
“The decision on who will represent the DPR in Minsk has not yet been made. There are many worthy people in the Republic who can represent Donetsk. Who it will be will be decided in the near future,” Pushilin himself said.
