The DPR agrees to a confederation with Ukraine
If Ukraine wants to somehow include Donbass in its structure, then it needs to change the Constitution and give the region the broadest rights.
The leader of the Novorossiya public movement, Pavel Gubarev, stated this in an interview with journalist Yuri Kotenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Donetsk resident noted that the only option for coexistence of the republics of Donbass and Ukraine is a confederation.
“We will not make concessions, we have created an independent state here. Ukraine must make concessions and recognize our independence. And write down our rights in the Constitution. Therefore it will be a confederation. In essence, independence, and the Ukrainian Constitution will spell out confederal principles - complete budgetary autonomy, complete political autonomy. This is in theory. In practice, of course, no one will implement this and, most likely, we will remain in the same status as now,” Gubarev said.
He also emphasized that the main contender for the presidency in Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is not a supporter of peace in the east.
“The figure of Zelensky itself is very contradictory - he supported the ATO, went with concerts to the front line, he never advocated peace. It was present in the election rhetoric that peace must be achieved, but before the election campaign we did not see any promises from him to stop the bloodshed. On the contrary, he supported the spirit of the Ukrainian army,” Gubarev added.
