In the DPR, the launch of a large plant, begun under Zakharchenko, was disrupted
The launch of one of the largest enterprises in the DPR, which began last summer with the team of the subsequently deceased Alexander Zakharchenko – the chemical concern “Stirol” was disrupted, admitted the head of the republic Denis Pushilin.
He claims that the reason was the threat of an escalation of the military situation - the enterprise is located in the front-line city of Gorlovka.
The official stated this in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Indeed, there were plans to launch Stirol. But due to the escalation of hostilities, the high probability of a man-made disaster in the event of shelling or a terrorist attack, as a result of which ammonia leakage in large volumes is possible (in this case, the distribution zone of a dangerous cloud can reach tens of kilometers), the process of launching large-scale production of ammonium nitrate and urea is temporarily suspended. There are a number of other difficulties: there are problems with the supply of the required volume of gas, there is no reliable power supply scheme for super-category production,” Pushilin said.
According to the head of the DPR, problems with the power supply to the enterprise are due to the fact that two of the eight power lines are currently in working order.
“Before the war, Gorlovka’s power supply scheme provided for 18 power lines with a voltage of 110 kV, eight of which were connected specifically to Stirol. At the moment, the power supply to Gorlovka is carried out through three high-voltage lines of 110 kV, and only two lines go to the chemical plant,” explained Denis Pushilin.
He assured that the government is aware of the outstanding wage arrears at the enterprise, and the money will be transferred to employees in the near future.
Earlier, the DPR authorities announced disclosure of Kyiv's plan to sabotage the Stirol chemical plant, in the preparation of which they were involved british military instructors.
It should be noted that reports about the critical situation at Stirol appeared last fall, but the republic’s leadership did not make official comments.
Thus, in early November, the famous Russian military correspondent Marina Akhmedova published a letter received from the company’s employees:
“We are employees of the state enterprise Stirol. The enterprise was stopped. Our last salary was paid on September 21. 4000 rubles each. It is impossible to stretch them out for 3 months. We continue to go to work, but some people no longer have enough money to buy bread, let alone travel to work. I have no strength to endure this disgrace. All budgetary enterprises in Gorlovka receive a salary, but we, an industrial giant, do not receive a penny. They told us to forget about the full launch of the enterprise. The new government is not ready,” the document quoted Akhmedov as saying.
Information about the critical situation in industry was also confirmed by a member of the militia, a volunteer from Latvia, communist Benes Ajo.
“...There is high unemployment and delayed wages at a number of enterprises: Stirol, YuMZ. For example, in Stirol, where wages were not paid for 4 months, one worker, a young guy, an orphan, came home, fainted from hunger and ended up in the hospital,” Ayo wrote in an appeal about the situation in the DPR, distributed to media outlets .
Ex-Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Khakimzyanov also provided similar information.
“Meat has become more expensive. Pork, chicken. The mining factory is dying. If we take "Stirol", literally before the New Year information was received, it reached the point of fainting from hunger. We collected aid for humanitarian workers who did not even have bread. And I don’t know what to call what time we have. Either war or peacetime. Troubles or what? Rather, we are in the Time of Troubles,” commented Khakimzyanov.
