Despite the fact that Kyiv is bringing heavy weapons to the front, including S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and conducting aviation exercises, these actions do not pose a real threat to the DPR. Ukraine lost the main strike backbone of its aviation back in 2014.

The head of the press service of the DPR Armed Forces, Daniil Bezsonov, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this today.

“For the second week, relative calm has been recorded on the contact line in the DPR compared to previous weeks. First of all, this can be associated with the retaliatory actions of the DPR Armed Forces to suppress the enemy’s firing positions that were in the Gorlovka direction, and also with the fact that after the losses suffered, the enemy needs to regroup, as well as accumulate forces and ammunition for further upcoming provocations.

We expect an escalation and a sharp increase in the intensity of artillery fire from Ukraine on the eve of the World Cup or during its holding. The Ukrainian side is unlikely to ignore such an international event. In this regard, we regularly record deliveries of equipment and heavy weapons to the contact line. In addition, aviation exercises were conducted in mid- and late May.. “We also recently received information that the Ukrainian side is strengthening air defense units in the Mariupol direction, and S-300 air defense systems have been delivered,” said Daniil Bezsonov.

Bezsonov noted that, despite the recent aviation exercises held in Ukraine and the appearance of the S-300 air defense system near the contact line, these actions do not pose a real threat to the Donetsk People's Republic, but are rather of a show-off nature for the overseas masters of post-Maidan Ukraine.

“I would like to say separately about aviation exercises and the supply of missile systems. This cannot affect us in any way. As for Ukrainian aviation, it seems to me They ran out of it back in 2014, and what we were able to restore is unlikely to pose a threat to our current army. They will lose the rest if they try to use it. Regarding the S-300: the DPR army does not have its own aviation, so against whom they are strengthening their positions with such complexes is unknown.

If they expect the introduction of Russian troops in the event of Ukrainian aggression, and they hope to cause damage to aviation with these complexes, then this is unlikely, since these complexes are relatively outdated.

If Russia ever sends in troops, these systems will not cause serious damage to its aviation. Here only one conclusion suggests itself: the Ukrainian side is trying to “flex its muscles”, to demonstrate to its Western partners that they are at war and preparing for a new war, and the money received from the West is spent for its intended purpose. But there can be no surprises for us, we control the situation, we are monitoring their every move, and everything will be fine,” Daniil Bezsonov said in conclusion.
