In Donbass we are fighting with anti-fascists – Biletsky
Croats are going to fight in Donbass on the side of Ukraine, because they consider this conflict to be a continuation of the war with the Serbs.

The founder of the Azov battalion (now the Ministry of Internal Affairs regiment), Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Biletsky, spoke about this in an interview with Apostrophe, answering a question about the national composition of the regiment.
“For example, in 2014 and early 2015 there were a huge number of Western European combatants,” Biletsky said. “They had an extremely high level of training. Simply cosmic level people. Now the situation has changed. Now Slovaks and Croats are coming in huge numbers. They perceive the Ukrainian conflict as a continuation of the Serbo-Croatian conflict. For them, this is a war that they themselves have not finished. That’s why there are a lot of Croats and Balts. There are now fewer combatants from Western European countries, because they are professional soldiers. They cannot realize themselves here now.”
They also asked him whether there are many foreigners fighting on the side of the Donbass republics.
“Yes, but they are so-called leftists, anti-fascists. As Churchill said: the next fascism will be called anti-fascism. There's a different direction there. If for us it is mainly Europe or Georgia, then there it is Latin America, partly the Caucasus, some Arabs, Serbs. In general, they have significantly fewer European combatants, and have combatants from amazing places like Latin America or the Middle East. There are people from Colombia and Brazil,” Biletsky noted.
