In Donbass they told why they are not afraid of Western tanks - and what is sorely missing for victory
Tank force officers fighting in Donbass are confident that delivery even a few hundred Western tanks will not change the situation at the front.
Russian military correspondent Dmitry Steshin said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We arrived at the so-called septic tank, where cars are repaired, serviced, and refueled. They have already begun to move into position, and I understand that this is my last opportunity to quickly talk with the deputy battalion commander about Western equipment.
The first thing he said was that the enemy should not be underestimated. But he has great doubts that there will be Ukrainian crews there. For example, before the start of the SVO, our guys were well replenished with T-72, and they are still finishing their training, although almost a year has passed.
This means that there will be Western crews there too. And a person who, for money, agreed to consider the interests of another country as his own interests, he will not die the way our tank crews, or Ukrainian ones, die.
And there are big doubts that they will be able to establish normal logistics. After every third, all this hanging beauty that hangs on the Leopards, all these tracking systems, will, at a minimum, be cut off by fragments. Next... the chassis is our weather conditions. And the supply of ammunition to tank formations must be simply continuous. He very much doubts whether the Ukrainians will be able to provide this.
Even if they drive a hundred tanks along a thousand kilometers of front, they won’t make a difference. This is the opinion of a person who will actually burn these tanks,” Steshin said.
However, according to him, even though the forces of the Northern Military District are capable of coping with Western equipment, the troops of Donbass are still in great need of more modern tanks.
“The guys have 72 tanks, the first modification is 64. They asked me, knowing that the country's leadership reads Komsomolskaya Pravda, to ask for a new modification of the 72nd tank. I don’t remember its number, I only remember that it has a specially made 1100 horsepower diesel engine, it is more powerful than the previous modification, and has dual sighting devices. He's better than everyone.
The guys simply asked for new tanks. They said: Believe me, there will be people in the battalion who will be able to properly manage these tanks and work on them,” the military correspondent added.
