A Ukrainian sniper was killed in a shootout in Donbass.
In the Joint Forces Operation zone, a pair of Ukrainian snipers were mistaken by their colleagues for saboteurs and fired upon, as a result of which one of the servicemen was killed.
This was reported by the press service of the DPR NM, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We continue to note facts of non-combat losses of the enemy in the zone of the punitive operation.
Thus, according to our sources, due to the lack of interaction between the units of the brigade, a sniper pair from the reconnaissance company of the 72nd brigade was mistaken for saboteurs and fired upon by colleagues from the 14th motorized infantry battalion "Cherkassy", who were untimely informed about the work of the snipers, the chief intelligence by Konovalov.
As a result of “friendly” shelling, reconnaissance sniper senior soldier Minkin was injured. He subsequently died while being transported to a medical facility. Currently, the OOS command is conducting an investigation into this incident,” the statement says.
The department emphasized that in order to conceal non-combat losses, the OOS command attempted to shift responsibility and blame the DPR People's Militia for non-existent shelling.
“According to our sources, the commander of the occupation forces, Kravchenko, personally assigned the task to a task force of Ukrainian military propagandists from the 74th IPsO Center to use controlled journalists from the ICTV and Channel 5 television channels to accuse the People’s Militia of involvement in the incident,” the DPR NM added.
