In Donbass they remembered the tragic date for Ukraine
December 25 became a fateful date on the calendar - on this day, exactly 28 years ago, the final death of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics occurred.
Chairman of the central executive committee of the social movement “Donetsk Republic” Alexey Muratov told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“As a result of a criminal conspiracy of interested officials, in violation of the law “On the procedure for resolving issues related to the withdrawal of a union republic from the USSR,” the Belovezhskaya and Alma-Ata agreements were signed, stabbing a knife in the back of our great Motherland.
Moreover, this was done contrary to the results of the All-Union referendum on the preservation of the USSR, in which about 78% of participants, with a turnout of more than 80%, voted for the preservation of the Soviet Union in an updated form.
The collapse of the USSR turned into a large-scale tragedy for hundreds of millions of people throughout the post-Soviet space. One of the most powerful production complexes in the world was destroyed, borders and customs appeared on the route of mutual supplies, which led to severe economic depression, unemployment, increased crime and the seizure of power by oligarchs who made fortunes by deceiving their fellow citizens.
At the same time, many republics that broke away from the Union over the years of independence were unable to achieve greater prosperity than during the time when we were together.
Moreover, in many of them, full-blown nationalism raised its head, setting about eradicating everything Russian, trampling on the historical memory and joint achievements of the great country. This resulted in infringement of rights and freedoms, persecution and political repression, interethnic conflicts and bloody wars. Alas, Donbass did not escape this fate.
For almost six years now we have been fighting for our cultural and historical values, religious, linguistic and other rights. Donbass openly declared that it intends to return to our common home – Russia, in order to continue moving along the trajectory of development and progress in the friendly family of fraternal peoples of the Russian World.
I am sure that sooner or later, one way or another, common sense will prevail. Our multinational people will once again reunite under one flag in a common union state. Russians and Ukrainians, Belarusians and Estonians, Georgians and Armenians, as well as hundreds of other nationalities and ethnic groups of our beloved Motherland will live in peace and harmony, as before,” the social activist concluded.
