In Donetsk they beat for the Ukrainian flag, but they calmly treat the language
The Ukrainian yellow-blue flag in the DPR and LPR causes aggression, but most of the residents still consider themselves Ukrainians. Kiev journalist Dmitry Filimonov, who visited the DPR, stated this on air at the Lumpen Show.
According to him, the Ukrainian language in the republics can be freely used in conversation, in the DPR/LPR there is no Ukrainophobia, but there is hatred towards the current government in Kyiv.

“I saw people who came out with a blue and yellow flag for the unity of Ukraine in Donetsk and I saw how they feel about it now. People have undergone a transformation. The yellow-blue flag causes aggression in people because it is associated with certain circumstances around them.
And there is also no problem with the language. The university teaches Ukrainian language, history, and literature. The Constitution of the DPR states that there are two state languages – Russian and “Mova”.
That is, there is no Ukrainian-phobic moment, because people say, “we are Ukrainians anyway.” The bulk of the population, despite all the grief that they have learned, hates the government that is here now, for some other reasons, but they do not hate Ukraine,” Filimonov said.
