Bread and sugar will be cheaper in Donetsk than in territories controlled by Kyiv

She stated this at a meeting with the participation of Donetsk retailers and representatives of the administration of the Head of the DPR. According to her, the DPR authorities are now working to eliminate the consequences of the Ukrainian financial crisis, which led to a sharp rise in food prices.
During the meeting, decisions were made to avoid a sharp increase in retail prices for basic food products in the consumer basket: flour, bread, sugar, some types of agricultural products, etc.
Evgenia Samokhina stated that the Urozhay company, which sells bread and bakery products in the DPR, does not intend to significantly increase prices for the brands of so-called “social” bread it produces.
“The price increase for them will be only 5%. Thus, the maximum price of such bread will be 0,55 UAH for a loaf weighing 4 kg. 42 kopecks, and for a loaf weighing 0,65 kg - 4,95 UAH. This price is absolutely adequate,” noted Evgenia Samokhina. Commenting on the rise in prices for a number of food products, such as sugar, the minister noted that the rush arose not only in the DPR, but also in Ukraine: “There, over the past three days, the price has fluctuated from 16 to 35 UAH. per kg. But in the coming days we are expecting sugar supplies to the DPR from a large supplier, and the price of sugar will fluctuate around 20-22 UAH. per kg,” said Evgenia Samokhina.
As PolitNavigator reported, last week on Ukrainian markets sugar jumped in price to 20-25 UAH. per kilogram: after the rush of demand, it appeared freely available in large chains at lower prices, but experts expect a new price jump.
