This was discussed at a meeting dedicated to stabilizing the financial situation to compensate for the sharp depreciation of the hryvnia.
“With the complete irresponsibility of the leadership in Ukraine, there was a complete collapse of the hryvnia. Unfortunately, we are still in the hryvnia zone and therefore are partially experiencing the difficulties that befell the population of Ukraine,” said Maxim Leshchenko, head of the administration of the head of the DPR. “The comments given today by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the head of the National Bank and the President show that they are just hysterical and helpless.”
“We will try to stabilize the financial situation so that neither utility organizations nor other enterprises, and especially the population, suffer. I think that this, of course, will take some time, but we will try to change the economic situation in the republic as soon as possible.
Our owners of grocery retail chains have traveled to the territory of the Russian Federation and are negotiating contracts for the purchase of food products and their delivery to the territory of the DPR. We are learning to negotiate the sale of our products in Russia. For now, there are still a number of issues that need to be resolved. I don’t think that rubles that “enter” the territory of our republic will then be exchanged for hryvnias,” Leshchenko believes.
