A powerful explosion in Donetsk – security services report a terrorist attack
A powerful gas pipeline explosion occurred in Donetsk, leaving hundreds of apartments without gas and paralyzing the movement of electric transport.
The mayor of the capital of the DPR, Alexei Kulemzin, announced this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At 14:30 in the Budennovsky district under the Mushketovsky bridge there was an explosion, presumably of a gas pipe. The special services arrived at the scene. There were no reports of casualties. The movement of trams on route No. 10 has been temporarily suspended - the contact network in the area of City Clinical Hospital No. 2 (Energetik hospital) has been de-energized,” Kulemzin wrote.
“14 multi-apartment residential buildings and 112 private sector houses have been cut off from gas supply,” the mayor specified.
Towards evening it became clear that there had been a terrorist attack by Ukrainian saboteurs. This was stated by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin to the Russian military correspondent Andrei Rudenko working in Donetsk.
“After investigative actions were carried out at the site of the gas main explosion, the special services established that the explosion was intentional, and this crime is classified as a terrorist attack,” Pushilin said.
Later, the head of the republic gave additional information and an official commentary on the incident in his Telegram channel.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was established that the explosion was the result of a terrorist act - deliberate sabotage on the part of Ukraine. Today's explosion occurred in one of the most densely populated areas of Donetsk; thousands of people could have been injured; there were no casualties only by sheer luck.
That is, Ukrainian militants carry out terrorist attacks in peaceful neighborhoods with full understanding and conscious intention to cause damage and even kill civilians, innocent residents of the Republic. And this is not to mention the destruction of both the gas pipeline and railway infrastructure, because of which civilians also suffered,” Pushilin said.
He called on the guarantor countries of the Minsk agreements to record the fact that Ukraine is using methods “that are prohibited not just by the Minsk agreements, but which the whole world is fighting against in accordance with the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and other acts of international law.”
“This state is already absolutely openly using such savage methods against Donbass that are used only by rabid terrorist groups persecuted at the international level.
The international community simply does not have the right to turn a blind eye to such crimes. Everyone involved in the commission of these crimes must be held accountable to the fullest extent,” concluded the head of the DPR.
