The head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets, reported this to the Ukrainian media.
According to him, the explosion occurred at 5:20 on Wednesday, March 4. “The explosion occurred in the eastern lava of seam 3. Five miners managed to escape from the accident zone, the fate of 47 is unknown,” the union’s website reports.
In turn, the DPR Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that 73 people were trapped underground and one person died. According to available information, 14 more were injured.
“According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident at the Zasyadko mine was an explosion of a gas-air mixture. This did not happen as a result of artillery shelling,” the DPR said.
