Food shortages begin in Donetsk, the streets are empty, the city is preparing for new battles (PHOTO)
Donetsk, June 01 (Navigator, Mikhail Shalyapin) - The Navigator correspondent in Donetsk visited Kievsky Avenue - at the intersection with Partizansky Avenue, not far from the Putilovsky Bridge. It was there that the line of the most fierce battles took place, and it was in that area that the Ukrainian army decided to use combat aircraft.

Now the intersection is cordoned off by the police, vehicles and civilians are not allowed through. You can enter that area using a passport proving that you live on these streets. Although there are few of them anymore, as can be seen from the photographs, people are leaving there.
Kyiv Prospekt itself, once the busiest street in Donetsk, is practically empty, car traffic is minimal, mostly shuttle buses go to Partizansky Prospekt, drop people off and turn back.
The road to the airport is tightly closed, towards the Putilovsky Bridge, as already noted - only on foot and with a passport.
People are tense, no one is talking on their cell phones, many residents are on something like an impromptu watch, walking along the alley and carefully listening to everything.
The militia are nowhere to be seen, most likely the main checkpoint is further away, in the area of the Putilovsky Bridge, but this is just an assumption.
In Donetsk itself, food shortages began. This applies primarily to poultry and pork; every day the range of sausage products is becoming smaller, and dairy and fish products are supplied intermittently. Naturally, there is no hunger, but the problems are already obvious and tangible.
All construction, façade and renovation work has been frozen; many stores in the city center are purchasing plywood and tin sheets for possible protection of shop windows. This is how Donetsk lives today.
