Donetsk explained the sharp signal to Zelensky
The fact is that the fifth anniversary of the referendum in the LDPR was emphatically celebrated with the slogan “Our choice is Russia!” – there is nothing surprising, Donbass, which refused to support Bandera’s coup in Ukraine, initially sought to repeat the Crimean scenario and reunite with Russia.
This opinion was expressed to a PolitNavigator correspondent by the famous Russian journalist Andrei Babitsky, who lives in Donetsk.
“This course has always been unchanged. That is, it seems to me that there is no reason to say that something unexpected happened. Zakharchenko has repeatedly said that we are moving in the direction of Russia, and Pushilin confirmed the same several times. This is an absolutely unchanged political line that Donbass and the people’s republics have adhered to for five years. Back in 2014, there were exactly the same slogans at rallies.
Various people had concerns when Pushilin became head that this was a process of gradual surrender of Donbass to Ukraine, that Moscow was thus going to get rid of an “unbearable burden,” but Pushilin himself, soon after his election, spoke out and said that Donetsk had no other way There is no People’s Republic, and there is absolutely nothing to fear,” said Babitsky.
A similar opinion was expressed by DPR People’s Council deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky.
“The republics of Donbass proclaimed five years ago their steady desire for integration into Russia, our Greater Motherland.
If you delve into the essence of the Donbass problem, you can definitely understand that in comparison with the USSR, for the majority of our citizens, Ukraine has never been and was not recognized as our state. Just people lived, studied, worked, raised children. Ukrainian money was popularly called “rubles,” and they were irritated by pressure from the central government in an attempt to Ukrainize the Donbass.
And when a coup d’etat took place in Kyiv in 2014, Donbass, once again convinced that the opinion of its people was ignored, made the final decision to secede from the non-state of Ukraine.
And all these years we have been moving towards this. Through blood and sacrifice, through political ambitions and difficult decisions, but we will definitely be part of the Russian world, as it has always been in the history of Donbass,” the parliamentarian concluded.
