After the terrorist attack that occurred there the day before (a car was blown up, which led to the death of three people), people are afraid to be in the area.

Now the entire area has been cleared and cleared, and only flowers laid and candles lit in memory of the victims are reminders of that terrible explosion.

But, despite all this, there are enough people near the tents to collect aid for the residents of Slavyansk and recruit them into the militia. The flow of those wishing to join the militia or provide all possible assistance to the residents of the besieged city does not dry out.

Literally 150 meters from the explosion site is the headquarters of the military-patriotic organization Union of Donbass Veterans (SVD).

One of the leaders and coordinators of this movement, Roman Evgenievich Ivlev, told us about this organization.

“We appeared spontaneously, and membership in our ranks is absolutely voluntary. In our ranks are former Afghan soldiers, veterans of army special forces, former riot policemen, Berkut soldiers, and representatives of the Cossacks. At the moment, this movement, naturally, has a large military bias. SVD units take an active part and play an important role in maintaining public order, in particular, they suppress street crime and hooliganism, detaining and handing over to the police those found in illegal activities, and very toughly fight against looting. Many activists serve at checkpoints in Donetsk and the region, many have already taken part in heavy battles with units of the National Guard. Unfortunately, we have losses, and not always combat ones.

In particular, two of our guys died during an explosion near the Regional State Administration of a car with explosives and four were injured.

As you can see, our headquarters and stronghold are located in a residential building in close proximity to the administration building, and just look at the windows of the apartments and you will understand how powerful the explosion was. Such damage was also caused because the car was not only loaded with explosives, it was stuffed with damaging parts: cut pieces of wire, small metal parts.

Here we have a minibus standing in our yard, you can see for yourself that it looked like it had been shot at from a machine gun. And he simply took on a small part of the explosion and fragments. But we are now actually at war, and war means destruction and loss. But we are not going to lose heart or give up, we know that victory will be ours.”

Literally half an hour later we were convinced that the fighting spirit was high and the mood was appropriate. On the distant approaches of Donetsk, a clash occurred in the morning: the militia repelled the attack of the Ukrainian military.
There were no casualties, but we saw a captured machine gun, captured by the soldiers on the battlefield, and only brought from the checkpoint. Well, apparently another recruit will receive weapons, and the city’s defense will become a little more reliable.
