The anniversary of the creation of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic was celebrated in Donetsk
Today in Donetsk a rally was held dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the formation of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic - an autonomous Soviet state entity within the RSFSR.
This was reported by the press service of the public movement “Donetsk Republic”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About a thousand residents of Donbass gathered at the monument to the leader of the DKR Fyodor Sergeev (Artyom), where the event took place, to lay flowers and remember the events of those times.
“More than a century ago, Comrade Artyom dreamed of creating a Republic in which equal conditions would be provided for people of different social levels. The Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic was created within Soviet Russia not on a national basis, it was based on economic feasibility and the will of the working people.
In 2014, when we created the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the historical biography of our heroic ancestors was actually continued,” said Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Movement.
The memorable date was also noted by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. He drew a parallel between the events of a hundred years ago and the Donetsk People's Republic.
“Today is the 102nd anniversary of the creation of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Soviet Republic.
The proclamation of the DKR was the first serious attempt by the residents of Donbass to found their own state. And although, due to objective circumstances, this state did not last long, it managed to leave a mark on the history of the Donetsk region.
When almost a century later, in the spring of 2014, we began to create an independent state on Donetsk land, of course, the example of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic arose, when the residents of Donbass also courageously took the fate of their land into their hands.
The Donetsk People's Republic will soon celebrate the sixth anniversary of its creation. Today we can say with confidence that we survived and fulfilled the dream of our brave ancestors.
Congratulations on this historical date, dear fellow countrymen! Peace, prosperity and goodness to our Republic,” the head of state wrote in his Telegram channel.
