Donetsk, June 21 (Navigator, Mikhail Shalyapin) – Today in Donetsk there was an incident with the use of automatic weapons. At about 16.00 p.m., information began to appear on social networks about an alleged shootout at the Niva Hotel, which is located in the Kalininsky district, a five-minute drive from the city center.

The initial version of what happened was a clash between Right Sector radicals and DPR militias.
Having arrived at the scene 40 minutes after the information appeared, we found neither armed people nor a police squad. The hotel is adjacent to the Kalinin collective farm market, from where all employees and customers were evacuated. A few eyewitnesses from among the residents of the building opposite and employees of a grocery store located 15 meters from the hotel describe what happened as follows.
At approximately 15.20-15.30, armed people arrived at the hotel. Almost immediately, a shootout broke out between those who arrived and those inside the building.
Those in the building responded mostly with pistols. Apparently, the people who arrived knew perfectly well who they were going to and where they were located. The evidence is that the shooting was initially carried out at the windows of certain rooms on the third floor, and only then moved to the hotel lobby.
All the entrance doors and windows of the entrance group, as well as the emergency exit, are riddled with machine gun fire. It is interesting that the Donetsk police completely deny the fact of the shootout.
It is reliably known that there were no casualties, only one participant in the shootout received a moderate gunshot wound. None of the hotel employees were injured.
The motives for what happened, as well as the identities of the attackers and defenders are currently unknown. And according to the latest information received, the DPR press service denied the fact of a shootout between the Donetsk militia and the Right Sector radicals, although the press service of the City Council indicated the PS as one of the parties to the conflict.
